SOX Pickleball Grounds

Listed as a covered court, which is why we picked it for an afternoon in the rainy season. It is not covered. There is a roof over about a third of one court and nothing over the rest. We played anyway and got soaked. The surface also gets genuinely slippery when it is wet, so after one of us went over we stopped. Fix the listing and this is a two or three star outdoor court at a fair price, but as described it is wrong and somebody is going to get hurt.

Booked an evening slot on the strength of the photos and the lights are nowhere near bright enough to play properly once it is fully dark. Two of the four floods on the far side were out and the ball genuinely disappears against the background on that half of the court. We swapped ends every game to be fair to each other, which is not something you should have to do. Price was fine and the surface is good, but I would only come back during the day until the lighting is sorted.

The courts themselves are perfectly fine and the price is reasonable, but there is no shade at all while you are waiting your turn. We played at two in the afternoon, which was our own mistake, and by the third game everyone not on court was hiding behind the parked cars. If you are coming in the middle of the day bring an umbrella and more water than you think you need. Early morning or evening it would probably be a four or a five.

Good value and the ball machine hire is genuinely useful if you are trying to fix something in your game rather than just play. Booked the machine for an hour on top of the court and it was set up and charged when we arrived. Only reason this is not a five is that there is one machine and it gets claimed early on weekends, so if that is why you are coming you need to book well ahead.

Booked the 6pm slot for four of us and it was the easiest court hire I have done here. The nets were already up, the lines are painted on properly rather than taped down, and nobody had to be chased to open the gate. The surface has a bit of grip so you can actually move without sliding, and the lights came on the moment it got dark. We ran three games of doubles and finished exactly on time because the court next to us started on the hour too. I would book this again without thinking about it.
